NPPAOU Newsletter: March 7, 2023
Join us this Wednesday, March 8, for a community rock-climbing night!
Hello everyone,
We hope you all enjoyed The Kalish Webinar if you were able to make it out in person or online! The Kalish has frequent online events, as well as an in-person workshop in early June that we will make sure to keep you all updated on.
During the webinar, they also shared an important resource to check out if you are interested in learning more about Digital Authentication! Follow this link for more info.
We are also excited to announce that Ohio University VisCom alumna Krisanne Johnson will be coming to visit on March 22-25 for a workshop sponsored by Canon! We are working with VisCom to create a list of events for all photojournalism students while she is here. So far we have portfolio reviews planned, Canon equipment demos, a presentation by Krisanne, and a Friday interactive documentary photography workshop led by Krisanne.
If you are interested in having your portfolio reviewed by Krisanne, please let us know at tomorrow’s meeting, or by sending one of us on the exec board a message!
For this week’s meeting, we are doing a community rock climbing night at the rock wall in Ping Rec Center from 6-7 p.m. We will first meet in our usual room, RTV 462/464 at 6 p.m. to go over announcements, and then we will walk together down to Ping. As long as you have your student I.D., you will be able to climb and rent gear for free! Come hang out, bring your camera, and climb!
We are continuing our yearly tradition of creating a zine of our NPPA chapter’s work! Here is a link to submit work to be a part of this year’s zine! Check out the zines from the past two years here!
As always, please submit your images here to be featured in next week’s newsletter and on our Instagram. The images should include captions, a filename with your first and last name, and be made in line with the NPPA Code of Ethics that we always hold ourselves to as a professional organization. We didn’t receive any submissions last week, so feel free to upload images you’ve made in the past two weeks. We’re excited to see and share your work!
Be sure to check out these upcoming opportunities including grants, internships, and full-time jobs below:
